April Mom & Me Sessions

Here is April's special, starting next Monday through Thursday. I hope to hear from you. Mother's are so special and we need to show them how special they are. Surprise your mom with a portrait session or bring in your daughter's or son's to capture the special bond you have together. Look out for next month's Dad & Me special.

We Reached a Milestone...

Our son turned 16 in January. I cannot believe I have a 16 year old because I still feel soooo young. I just turned 37 in March, so I think I am still on the young side of the spectrum. Anyhow, we held off from getting his license right away for several reasons. But as of this past Thursday, our son, Nathan (better known as Nate), now has his drivers license! Holy moly! It's a parent's dream to see such an accomplishment. A special moment for him and for us. We are proud of him and happy that he has reached his day of independance. I have to say though, that when he asked to use his father's truck that evening, all alone, my heart sank, I took a deep breath, and smiled. And then when he went and asked his sister, Kayla, if she wanted to take a ride to Taco Bell with him, whoa, I about fell over; seeing how they usually cannot be in the same room together for more than a minute, sometimes less. Anyhow, when she accepted a ride to her grandmother's instead of Taco Bell, it really was a milestone. Maturity HAS to come with the drivers license... Before he left we gave him the whole lecture that parents give, wear your seatbelt, drive slow, come straight home, etc. Then as they drove off, my husband and I looked at each other, laughed and then both smiled not saying anything, but we both knew what we were thinking - please be safe. I quietly said a prayer and went on with what I was doing. We did call him a couple of times, um just to see how the truck was driving for him and well, to see if it was raining in town (any reason to call), and thankfully he returned home safely. It was a proud moment. Now, we just need to find him a car so he doesn't drive us nuts asking to use the car. Oh and if you ask, "where are the photos?" I'll tell you, I so wanted to snap some shots during his "photoshoot" at the Secretary of State, but held off, cuz I know he would have been so embarrassed. There were too many people around and I just had to keep the camera in my purse, but I did take mental photos that I will never forget. Here is a semi-recent shot of Nathan I want to share.
