Cutiepatooties!

I would love to introduce my nephew and niece. The two cutest kids EVER! They remind me so much of my older two kids, with their mannerism and attitude. Just like mine when they were that age. I was so happy to photograph them last week, for Ava's 2 year birthday session. It was the quickest and easiest session ever. But they always are. My little guy, Cruz, is the biggest sweetheart and knows how to strike a pose. He is ALWAYS ready with a huge smile for you and hugs and kisses. OH I could just eat them up! Anyhow, I wanted to post a shot or two from their session. Enjoy the cuteness!

No Business Today, Just A Beautiful Day

I have to say that today was such an awesome day in general. You gotta love the sun shining bright first thing in the morning. Starts the day off just right. My day started early, 5:30 a.m., because I had to take my daughter, Kayla, to Target to be first in line to purchase the Wii Game System. She saved all her birthday money to make this purchase, and finally, we found somewhere she could actually get one. So following you will see a "snapshot" of Kayla and her brother, Nathan, bowling on the Wii system. Why did I snap this? Well, because this is a VERY rare occurrence - the two of them in the same room together without wanting to pull each other's hair out. On a normal day, they usually bump into each other in the hallway, yell for each to get out of the bathroom before school, and race to see who can get on the bus first. So, honestly, this moment was one I had to document, for the couple of hours spent together yelling at the t.v. was such a sweet moment, for a mother who NEVER seems to get this kind of peace (even if they were betting 50 cents a game).

EDIT: Now, just as I was posting this, Nathan and Kayla decided they had enough of getting along and wanted to go back to the way things usually are. So, after breaking them up because Nathan didn't want to pay up his 50 cents, I ran here to edit my lovely post.

My darling, little, sweet Isabella. Oh, how I love her age so. She is five and although she does have her moments, mostly she is such a little doll. Now, I know some family members reading this right now are probably laughing and thinking "who is she talking about?" But as her mother, I say that about 90% of the time my Bella is just the sweetest and cutest gal ever. She was outside all day today with her best friend, Jesse. Those girls are inseparable, and they just love each other. I am so thankful they have each other. Here is a shot of Bella and then one of both girls. Have to add, Bella and Kayla are now playing bowling on the Wii system, and Bella is kicking Kayla's butt : 195 to 145. Go Bella!

Today my mom, known as Nita, was over for a little while and hung outside with Bella. Here is a quick shot I took while they were trying to communicate with the birds...chirping away. Bella learned to whistle, too. This is not the most flattering shot of my mother, but it does show the love she and Bella share.

Mother's Day Special

I forgot to post about our "Last Minute Mother's Day Special" mini-sessions. On Friday, May 4th and Saturday, May 5th I have set aside some time to host some mini-sessions for you. Cost is $60 for a 15 minute session which includes a 5x10 inch Art Panel (Mini Sweetheart) regularly priced at $65. How about surprising your mom with a portrait of you and your siblings, or her grand kids. I'll take as many shots as I can in that time frame, but be assured we will get thee shot. I love Mother's Day, probably because I am a mother now, but also because my mother means the world to me. And I think that it is so very important to let your mother or any mother know how very special they are. So, this is my reason for this Limited Edition session. Portraits are priceless in my book and make the best gifts. Gift certificates are available also. Please pass this on to your friends who haven't yet decided on a gift. Call now for details and available time slots . 517.546.6654 or 517.652.5359

2008 Senior Model Search

Oh how I love to photograph Seniors. It is such an awesome age and a pivotal time in their lives; it's just an honor to document this important moment. Seems like just yesterday I was graduating from high school and moving away to college. Wow, those were some of the best times in my life. Weird how even 18 years ago we could actually function and have good times without the iPod or laptop, or Razor cell phones. Good times, good times, as I like to say.

We are looking for some fresh faces to represent Karina G Photography for the 2008 Senior Season. Looking for both male and female models that are comfortable in front of the camera and who will LOVE to show off their photos!!! We want to have some fun, outgoing and friendly people. If you are or know of any JUNIOR students that attend a high school in the surrounding area, who will be graduating in 2008, and who are interested in earning FREE prints, new cool stuff and have some awesome portraits taken, send them my way. Well, actually, contact me via email or by phone. We need to get them in right away, so the sooner the better. Time is running out to get some photos shot and printed, so this is a SHOUT OUT to please contact me today. I have a couple of models lined up already, so keep a look out for shared images. Email: Karina@KarinaGPhotography.com 517.546.6654 or 517.652.5359

In the meantime, here are a couple of shots of two of my 2007 Senior Model Reps, Cory and J.R.

Sneak Peek

My good friend, Melissa, came to me a couple of weeks back to have her maternity photos taken. This is her second pregnancy and is expecting a boy. She was such a beautiful pregnant model and we had fun during the session. Taylor, her most stunning daughter, is photographed here with mom. This little one has been awesome to photograph throughout the years. I consider them family and we have lost touch for a while, but I so love being back in touch with them.

On March 20th, little Derrick was born. He is an angel and was pretty cooperative during our session (other than the little "sprinkler" job he shot on his first photo I took of him; it was so funny!)There are so many photos, but I promised them a sneak peek on a couple, so here they are. I can't wait to proof the rest. Thanks so much Melissa and Derrick for allowing me to capture your beautiful family. We will see you soon, I hope.

My First Blog!

Welcome to my very first blog! I have never had a blog before, and actually am a bit nervous about it, but hey, I have to at least try. So, I have to start off by saying that as much as I would like to say I am going to keep up to date with this blog, there are absolutely no guarantees that I will. I know myself too well...I will get caught up with work and put this on the back burner. But, I will really try.
This 2007 year has been slow in progress as far as sessions go, but now that Spring is finally here, the phone has started ringing and my date book is filling up. I love that! I love capturing those priceless moments for you.

Now, I have to say that though it started out slow for sessions, I have still been very busy in 2007. I have been up to my ears trying to prepare for the 2008 Seniors. That season starts right after the end of the 2007 school year, in June. I love shooting Seniors - they WANT to look good, which makes my job much easier. Make sure to pass on my website to your friends and family who are interested in having high school senior portraits taken, and make sure they mention your name for my referral program: free stuff for you and for them.

So, I wanted to add a bit about my personal life. I am so proud of my kids, Nathan, Kayla and Bella. Of course, like every proud mother is, she must brag and share the latest. So here I go: in the past two weeks, Bella, 5, has lost her first tooth, learned to tie her shoes, and has learned to write the complete alphabet and pretty much all her numbers to 10! What an accomplishment for such a little person (big girl, she says). My littlest isn't so little anymore. Kayla received her date for her very first bowling tournament, in May! She is a strong bowler and shares her talent with her father, who also loves the sport. This tournament is HUGE with thousands of teens, and we are so proud of her for having the courage to sign up after being asked. We know she will do great - and encourage her every step of the way. Kayla has also decided to tryout for the high school bowling team, tennis team, and possibly the softball team. She is great at sports and hope she continues to thrive in all she does. Nathan, my first born, is now enrolled in driver's ed! OY, this is huge for us. Very emotional in so many ways. He is so excited and ready to get behind the wheel and you can see it in his great big smile. Dropping him off yesterday was very hard, but a moment I will never forget. I don't think he really thought anything of it, but as I drove away realizing that he was on his way to receiving that permit, I had to compose myself to drive. Then picking him up afterwards, Nathan didn't share much as most teens don't, but he was happy to announce that next week he would drive and by the end of that week, he would receive his Permit to drive with a parent. OY, again. A milestone that I will certainly capture...discretely of course. We are so proud of our kids. The only photos I have to share tonight are those of Bella, just after tying her shoes and of her first lost tooth. Ironically, her permanent tooth pushed that tooth out, so there isn't much of a gap. More photos of Kayla and Nathan to follow. Please excuse the quick snapshots before she was off to bed.

More to come later!
